Mohammed, a farmer, and livestock owner in the eastern Idlib countryside, described work as an essential aspect of life. Displaced due to airstrikes in his village, he started a new life, seeking some work to sustain his family.
Despite facing years of low-paying work, Mohammed’s life took a turn with the initiation of the Olive Harvesting project by IYD in his village. And despite his age, he was among the first to participate, driven by his passion for agriculture.
His remarkable engagement became a source of inspiration. Conversations with him revealed a man with a profound work ethic and unyielding pride. Mohammed emphasized the significance of this opportunity, not just for the income but for the dignity of work. His simple yet profound aspiration is to return to his home and his land and continue working with dignity to secure the needs of his family, especially his daughter, who has a disability.
